Had a good weekend.
Birthday prez to self was not going in to work.
I actually meant to go in Saturday, and only take Sunday off, but was too hungover to go in Saturday.
Friday night I had a couple of beers after work with Nora. Then home to organize the weekend and a quick glass of red with housemate Loud and new housemate Tess (and friends). Decided couldn't be bothered organizing a birthday dinner on Sunday night as some friends had suggested I should, so texted around cancelling (had told them ahead of time I probably would). Then into the city to meet Ellen and Della for a couple of catch-up drinks, plus to lend Ellen a book I'd borrowed from my work library. I multitasked and also got Hyper, and another friend (Haclev [1]) to come along since I also haven't had any quality time with them lately. Was massively late (well, 45 mins, but with constant flextime mobile updating of all of them, which I've totally meant to not get into - Nora's fault though, was waiting for her for ages) and felt v guilty. Then 3 beers at e55, another 3 at Hell's Kitchen (where one of Hyper's friends met us - hm, could've been 4), at least 1 at Rue Bebelon (but seem to have lost track). And another beer (2?) at Misty (am pretty sure I haven't forgotten an entire venue in between there), and then Hyper's friend ended us on a Tequila slammer. Am pretty sure we went home after that. Should probably have had some dinner at some point.
Blame the tequila,
For Saturday's apathy,
Sleep eat sleep, no work.
Saturday I got up at 11 for greasy eggs on toast and paracetamol. Tried to rehydrate, and got dressed and ready for work. Fully ready to go to work, I lay down for a little rest in bed till 3:30. Supposed to go for Barmy's birthday drinks at 6, but was supposed to meet up with Knutter beforehand to organize things for later that night. So didn't go in to work. Badness. Knutter was supposed to swing by at 6, but didn't make it till 7. So I didn't make Barmy's drinks till 8. Caught up with Barmy, and had an interesting convo with her odd brother Fillet. He's always really nice to me, and I can see he's a bit odd, but he's also treated a couple of my friends rather oddly in a somewhat bad-uncomfortable way, so I'm not quite sure how to treat him. I think the fact they're girls was a significant factor. Quill, Barmy's ex was also there. He's also a rather odd one, a really good bullshitter, and it kind of disturbs me the kinds of situations he manages to talk himself out of. And again, he's always rather nice to me, but has managed to totally piss off one of his (ex) best friends (Fleur) whilst living with her. She generally avoids him now. Fleur and Neiman and Daria, and some of Neiman's workmates were also there. So had a bit of a catchup with that crew, but only stayed till 9:30, then headed for Ben's housewarming. Met a few new people, which was nice, indulged [2], talked too much, got a bit of quality time in with Loud and Chris, then tried to help wind the party down cos apparently the body corporate in Ben's new place is a bit tetchy. So our house crew and attached headed to Revolver and stayed till past 6ish. Had a good boogie, met a few friendly randoms. I really quite like the place - once I have a life again [3], I might try going regularly(ish).
So home and then asleep by 7. Slept till 3ish. Then took a couple of birthday phonecalls. Had a lovely (as always) chat to speshal_k, although didn't feel very together, much less scintillating, sorry K! Was planning to just laze around and maybe get take-out for dinner and deliberately suppress all thought of work (didn't work very well). But then Loud came home and wanted to cook, so I fell in with her plan, and then we just vegged for the rest of the night.
[1] Should really do little bios for everyone, would also probably help me keep these blognyms straight - but maybe too identifying?;
[2] How euphemistic - second indulgence this year (housewarming was first);
[3] Need to make a list of stuff-to-do-once-I-have-a-life-again.

Public transport was quite good to me this morning. Good connections. Shouldn't waste it. Must be productive. Might go for a coffee first though.

Have I not posted this? A couple of nights ago I was on my way home and Loud called to confess she felt a bit mean about sniping at Hyper. He'd apparently asked if she thought her bf would mind if he (Hyper) and friends drank the wine he (Loud's bf) regularly brings us (he works in the industry). She told him that it'd been brought "for The House" and was now feeling a bit bitchy about it. I don't understand why Hyper does this kind of thing though - Loud clearly finds him A Trial, and yet he persists in things like using her toothpaste, asking to drink the wine her bf brings The House (when no one else in The House is around), and I should be able to think of more things...
Anyway, I get home later and Hyper and two mates, me and Loud were all in the living room. He asks her again: "Do you think [your bf] would mind if we [Hyper and mates] drank that wine he brought?". She then states "[The bf] brought it for The House, yada yada" (can't remember what else she said, but it went on a bit, was a bit snide and made it clear she didn't think it was ok). Surely it's clear to all that the factor isn't the bf, but the fact that Hyper and Loud don't get along? Hyper must get this? Why would he even go there?
Anyway, she goes to the kitchen to put food away. I go to the kitchen to wash up after dinner. She starts to bitch about him and tells me not to defend him "like you always do" (and also tells me the way he acts is partly My Fault because I let him get away with stuff - which I do, but the stuff I let him get away with is only to do with Me, not Her, so I was a bit offended by this comment). I restrain myself from defending him.
I go back to the living room, and Hyper immediately starts to bitch about her and tells me not to defend her "like you always do". I restrain myself from defending her. But I do let myself be quietly amused.

Just to explain last Tuesday, Hyper was being sensible by checking the radiator fluid as I've been having some radiator problems recently. It seems to be leaking very slowly (but just occasionally, much faster). I told the mechanics to check it out when we got it serviced a few weeks ago, but they said it was fine. It's not. So anyway, Hyper checked it before a long drive, but got distracted somehow and didn't put the lid back on and then it had boiled dry and he was stranded... Anyway, he was v good and took it to a mechanic and insisted on paying for the whole thing, despite my pointing out there was a pre-existing problem.

I got in to work at 10:29 this morning, and of course we go for morning coffee at 10:30. The caffeine really hit the spot.
Yes, was very hard to get out of bed this morning - was kind of lucky to get a text from speshal_k at 9am, or who knows how much longer I would've stayed in bed? But at least today I wasn't solely being lazy, I got woken at 1:30am by Hyper. He'd borrowed my car to go to his regular Tuesday night gig out in the country, and it stopped working on his way home. So he called me and we had to sort out roadside assistance shenanigans and where to tow it and what details he needed to know for roadside people and various complexities cos it's kinda still registered over west with a reciprocal roadside arrangement here but also insured with people here and silly stuff, etc. Anyway, he finally got home about 3am, poor boy. A timer belt or something? Anyway, it was left outside some mechanic and he's gonna ring them today.
(Don't think I've even mentioned yet that "borrowing" it last night was also picking it up from the mechanic after incidents last Tuesday involving leaving the radiator cap off...)
